I ran across a blog post somewhere else several months ago with a list of 100 3-word reminders that really blessed me. I wanted add a few more reminders that have come out of recent study.
- He Must Increase. The reminder from John the Baptist in John 3:30 that Jesus must take supremacy and that John’s own fame must decline and fade away. A perfect daily reminder for the disciple of Christ. He must expand to my detriment.
- Remember Lot’s Wife. Shorthand reminder for the words that follow, “Whoever seeks to keep his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it.” Once we commit to follow, there can be no going back. As Jesus says elsewhere in Luke, “No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” Lord, help me to keep my eyes on You.
- The Humble Exalted and The Exalted Humbled. Sums up Jesus’ teaching in Luke 14 about taking the lower places instead of the seats of honor at banquets, obviously applying to much broader areas and issues of life than the seats we choose at tables, speaking to the general way in which we carry ourselves in interaction with others. In keeping with Jesus’ general inverted hierarchy (the least shall be the greatest, the last shall be first), He makes it clear that those who make little of themselves are those that God will make much of in the Kingdom.
